The first Mexican athlete to win a medal in gymnastics proves the critics wrong

When Alexa Moreno participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, she received waves of criticism. She did not get to the final rounds of the competition and people mocked her body shape.

However, Moreno believed in her ability and kept on working towards her dream. At the age of 24, she has just won a bronze medal in the gymnastics world championship. She is the first ever Mexican gymnast to win a medal.

After winning the medal, the negative, body-shaming comments switched into appraisal and congratulation messages.

Since when does doing gymnastics mean you have to fit into unnecessary body standards? Anybody can do any kind of sport or physical activity without worrying about how you look. If you let other people define who you are, you will not reach your full potential.

Alexa did not let that happen and she only paid attention to what she dreamt for. She wanted to be a successful athlete and, at the age of 24, she has broken a record for being the first Mexican gymnast to win a medal.

We would love to see her career skyrocket even more now that she has reached this point in her career and we want to encourage anyone fight for your ideas and to forget about whatever is weighing you down to chase your dream.

Go for it, and you’ll see the results!
