Could you imagine a busy city with no pollution? Go-Ahead Group has put a plan in place for city buses to start filtering the air as they drive around.
Public transportation is one of the best ways to move around and one of the most environmentally healthy means of transport due to the large number of people they can carry at the same time. We might not like standing up in busy times but we have to agree that if everyone drove by car, the traffic jams would be too big to cope with.
Southampton has been the city chosen by that company to test the new air-filtering system. It consists of a mechanism that is installed on the roof of the bus which does not affect the users' experience in any way.
Go-Ahead claims the filter to be able to filter up to 99.5% of polluting "ultrafine particles" from the air, store them, and release clean air back into the streets. If this prototype is successful, we might start seeing many more big cities around the UK and the world using such filters in order to reverse all the damage done to our environment.
Don't forget that your actions affect you and others more than you think, make smart choices and take care of the environment.
